Japanese cooking studio -WA- provides Japanese cooking classes in English for visitors from or nearby Osaka and Kobe. We open our home kitchen for everyone to create one-of-a-kind memories.
“WA” means “Japanese style” and “circle”. We would like you to enjoy Japanese cuisine and to know each other through cooking and eating together. We hope to connect with others across the globe in our cooking classes.
We promise, it will make your stay more fun. We look forward to meeting with everyone, so please join us!
The maximum number of participants is five, which makes our cooking classes very intimate experience. We will share our stories through the classes. Please don’t hesitate to ask your question! The chef will answer each personal interest and question.
Our policy is doing most of cooking process from scratch with customers to provide enough information for them . A chef will explain not only “how to” but also “why” to let them understand Japanese cooking deeply.
All recipes taught in our cooking classes are the chef’s original. She made them for guests to recreate dishes easily at home because she has experiences making home cooking recipes as a professional recipe creator and struggling to find Japanese ingredients while living abroad.
Our cooking classes are held in an ordinary Japanese house. You can feel like you are cooking and eating with a local friend, and it must be a precious experience you will not get in tourist spots. You can know recommended places as a chef is a foodie and familiar with Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto.
2-3 hour
You will learn about Japanese food culture and make a full Japanese meal in the class. At first, a chef will explain the food we will cook, all the ingredients and Japanese food culture. Then, she will demonstrate the cooking process and techniques. Afterwards, we will cook the dish together. After cooking, we will all sit down, chat, and enjoy our culinary creations together.

Guests ages 4 and up can attend except for Japanese pub food and Local sake pairing class.
Children are welcomed for our classes. However, they must be given strict parental supervision since there will be something dangerous such as hot stoves and sharp knives in a kitchen. In addition, please note that we do not have furniture and knives made for kids.
The place is in an apartment. You need to use stairs as there are not any elevators.
Welcome to my home cooking studio! I am Saeko. I run my own cooking studio, and work as a professional food stylist and a recipe creator for 3 years. I was born and raised in Osaka. I used to work as a Japanese chef in Denmark and traveled over 20 countries. Living abroad, I get to experience cooking and teaching my foreign friends how to cook Japanese foods. It was very enjoyable. And, I am really passionate about exploring or discovering food and learning the ways of cooking. I would like to share my cooking knowledge and skills with everyone from all over the world!

Japanese cooking studio -WA- is nearby MONDO-YAKUJIN station located in Nishinomiya-city between Osaka(Umeda)and Kobe. From there, it takes only 20-30 minutes by Hankyu line. We will meet in front of the station and walk to our cooking studio for a few minutes.
Nishinomiya has a lot of sake breweries. And, it is the most popular city to live in for Japanese people in the Kansai area as it is a convenient and liveable city. Though it is not well-known to tourists, we guarantee that you can witness the ambiance of an authentic local Japanese.
